A Prayer for the Week Ahead
For the Weary, the Warrior, and the Wonderfully Worn-Out
Heavenly Father,
As a new week stretches out before us, we come to You exactly as we are: tired, hopeful, anxious, determined, and carrying more than most people will ever fully understand.
You see the therapy schedules taped to the fridge.
You see the emails we still haven’t answered.
You see the battles we fight quietly; with school systems, insurance companies, sleep deprivation, and our own heavy hearts.
And Lord, You see the love. The fierce, relentless, never-giving-up kind of love that lives inside every special needs parent and caregiver. The kind of unwavering love that shows up again, and again, and again…even when we’re running on fumes and cold coffee.
So today, we hand You this week.
Every appointment. Every meltdown. Every small victory. Every moment we’re tempted to wonder, “Am I strong enough for this?”
Remind us that we were never meant to do this alone.
When Monday morning hits like a freight train, give us patience that runs deeper than our exhaustion.
When the paperwork piles up and the phone won’t stop ringing, give us clarity and calm in the middle of the chaos. When our child struggles, when progress feels slow, or invisible, remind us that growth is still happening…even when we can’t see it yet.
And when we feel overlooked, misunderstood, or flat-out worn down, wrap us in the truth that You are right there in the trenches with us.
Not judging. Not rushing. Not expecting perfection. Just walking beside us.
Lord, give us eyes to notice the tiny miracles this week: the new sound or word spoken, the calmer transition, the unexpected smile, or the moment of peace in the middle of the storm.
Help us celebrate progress, not perfection.
Help us laugh when things go sideways.
Help us rest when our bodies and hearts are begging for a break.
And most of all, remind us of this:
We are not failing. We are not falling behind. We are not alone. We are doing holy work.
The late nights, the endless advocacy, the emotional load we carry, none of it is wasted.
Every ounce of love poured into our children matters.
So as we step into this new week, steady our hearts. Strengthen our hands. Renew our hope. Give us courage for the hard moments, grace for the messy ones, and joy for the unexpected ones.
And when Sunday rolls around again and we look back at everything we survived, managed, and loved through, remind us to tell ourselves:
“We made it.”
Amen.
